Seaview Residence

2005, Hong Kong
Completed

The clients enjoyed being outdoors and wanted the roof terrace of their apartment to become a sanctuary above the city. The brief called for a white and minimal environment, which would make the best use of natural light and magnificent harbour views.

A new glass and Corian staircase, glass block atrium and open-air roof garden were introduced, allowing light to filter into the previously dim centre of the apartment. Other areas were expanded to allow for entertaining friends, the display of art work and the creation of a work space. To achieve lightness and texture in the design, simple flowing forms were deployed with minimal flush detailing and a neutral palette of predominantly natural materials, from limestone to sandblasted glass and white-oiled oak.
