Kay Unger Store

2010, Seoul
Completed

With four weeks to the shop opening, we were commissioned to design the interior and facade of a new Kay Unger store. The store sells evening and day dresses, often with a quirky touch. Reflecting this, the brief asked for an atmosphere of leisurely browsing as well as anticipation of a glamorous evening out.

In this project we explored the potential of laser cut steel plates to create sophisticated visual dividers. The display window is bordered by perforated steel screens, which veil the shop interior without obscuring it. During the day, an intriguing play of light and shadow drift over the floor, while at night the pattern of the screens frames the gowns.
